This is distressing.
There must be positive stories out there. It’s not as if the public will no longer need or digest the product journalists create.
Hopefully, this is just the ebb in journalism’s overall flow. New technologies and delivery techniques will continue to transform journalism but it will never make the profession obselete.
Several companies are working on an LCD paper. Such an invention would spell wonders for journalism. Consumers could purchase an “LCD newspaper” and new content would be automatically uploaded to it, including video. This, of course, is far, far down the road but it’s something to think about.
